ORS History

Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists - Founded in 1987 in Jackson, MI

Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists (ORS) was originally formed by Physical Therapists Jerry Malone and Richard Kohler in 1987. They grew quickly, adding more therapists to their team, and in 1991 one of those therapists, Kevin Barclay, joined ownership. Through the following years, opportunities continued for PTs at ORS to grow into leadership, and Brandon Klump, Aaron Holly, and Michael Cox became co-owners.

For nearly 40 years, ORS has been proud to be a locally and privately-owned healthcare company, operated by people directly involved in patient care. ORS has 10 clinic locations in the greater Lansing, greater Jackson, Ann Abor and Jonesville areas, and is headquartered in Jackson, Michigan.

Why Is It Spelled Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists With an A?

When the company was formed in 1987, according to Jerry Malone, the founder of Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, the 2 owners were deciding on a name. Since there was another company doing physical therapy in Jackson with the name Orthopedic in the title, Jerry and Richard decided to put the A in Orthopaedic Rehab so that the company would be listed higher in the phone book and in the yellow pages ahead of their competing physical therapy company.

At Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists (ORS), our Licensed Athletic Trainers offer a distinct advantage when it comes to sports injury management and care. We prioritize keeping our Athletic Trainers up to date with the latest information in areas such as concussion management, emergency response, and performance training. This continuous education ensures that our Athletic Trainers are at the forefront of their field and can provide the highest quality care to athletes.

Occupational Therapy

At the ORS Jackson - Robinson Rd location, we have an incredible team member who offers Occupational Therapy (OT). OT treats a range of concerns from balance and fall issues to neurological conditions such as Parkinson's Disease. Our Occupation Therapist can help you regain functional skills and prevent regression giving you the strength to enjoy those everyday activities.
